一、课程性质:国际贸易方向的实践教学课程    

二、考核目的

English for International Business Communication is a business writing course specially offered for students majoring in international trade and economics It is a practical course so that much importance will be attached to writing practice.  

 

三、考核依据教材

《外经贸英语函电》,甘鸿主编,上海科学技术文献出版社

四、教学手段

采用课堂教学、案例分析、学生实际操练等相结合的教学方式

五、考核教学要求

By learning specimen letters in the text book, students will be taught to master useful terms and

1.expressions commonly used in business letters, rules ,styles, patterns of writing business English

2.they are able to write concise, persuasive and appropriate business.

   六、考核课程内容

 Unit One Business Letter-Writing

I. Essentials of Business Letter-Writing

Three C’s: (1) Clearness; (2) Conciseness; (3) Courtesy

II. Layout of Business Letters

1. the letter-head

2. the date

3. inside name and address

4. the salutation

5. the message

6. the complimentary close

7. the signature

III. Envelope Addressing

IV. Styles of Business letters:

1. indented letter style

2. blocked letter style

 

Unit Two: Establishing Business Relations

In this unit, students will learn how to start sending letters to new parties concerned, such letter ad “First enquiry”. Generally, this type of letter begins by telling the addressee how his name is know. Then some general information should be given as to the lines of business being handled. The writer should state simply, clearly and concisely what he can sell or what he expects to buy.

Words and Expressions: enquire into, enquire about, quotation, handle, offer from, owe your name to, deal in ,trade in, be in the line, acquaint sb. with sth, with reference to, in compliance with, meet one’s interest.

 

Unit three: Status Enquiries

Letters enquiring status are more or less stereotyped, students are required to grasp main sentence structures and expressions.

Words and expressions:Private, confidential, credit standing, enjoy, good reputation

考核方式:开卷考试

成绩评定标准:百分制
